Giving Thanks

Raised on purple corn and highland air.
James was a fine bird, cocky and fair.
Along came Campbell, hungry and ready
With his sharp knife, and his hand strong and steady.
James had a sip of some sweet, sickly wine
But he didn't complain, it was his last chance to dine.
With a gobble to his children, and a final flutter goodbye.
James joined our thanksgiving dinner and his meat made us sigh.
